Intensive Styling and Scissoring Education

The Advanced Module is designed with intensity and detail for groomers who want to enhance their skills in styling and scissoring specific breeds.

It is also open to aspiring groomers who want to study dog grooming comprehensively and operate their own successful grooming business.

The Advanced Module combines the Basic and Intermediate Modules. Established groomers may request a customised module structure.

Complete Advanced Module Syllabus 13 Learning Areas
  1. Identifying the difference between cosmetic and hygiene grooming
  2. Understanding the correct way to hold and use a grooming shear
  3. Mock shearing on provided props
  4. Mock shearing on model dogs and/or props
  5. Training on how to gain control of the dog and the correct technique to hold the dog during scissoring, styling or shaping
  6. Understanding the difference between a haircut and a hairstyle
  7. Understanding thinning techniques
  8. Breed-specific styling
  9. Breed-specific shaping based on formula
  10. Practical training in shaping and styling, including scissoring techniques
  11. Practical training in puppy cuts and styling included in the cut
  12. Creative grooming based on client requirements
  13. Brief introduction to dog-hair colours

  1. Course fees must be deposited in full at the academy at the time of registration. When payment is made by cheque, the course will commence only after the cheque is realised.
  2. Payments are accepted by cheque, card or cash.
  3. The trainee will be granted only five sick leaves, which will be adjusted within the tenure of the course.
  4. The course is conducted five days per week and commences at 11:00 AM.
  5. The academy may customise the course according to the student’s requirements, provided it is convenient for the instructors.
  6. At the end of the respective course, students who choose this option may be offered job placement at the Twix & Butch grooming salon.
  7. Students who want to start their own venture may enquire about consultancy and salon setup services. Pricing will be discussed at the time of graduation.
  8. Students may upgrade after completing the Basic or Intermediate Module by paying the applicable price difference.

Experience Built Around Care, Compassion and Detail

Twix & Butch Professional Pet Salon was founded by Shona Bhobe in May 2015. An ardent dog lover, Shona has cared for dogs for three decades.

The care and upkeep of her dogs inspired her to train professionally and groom and care for dogs as a career.

She trained under Radhiya Hemchandra, a certified Master Groomer, before establishing her own salon in Pune.

Inspired by the salon’s success and recognition, Shona started the Twix & Butch Dog Grooming Academy in 2018 to train like-minded people interested in pet grooming as a career.

A good groomer needs love and compassion for dogs, together with an eye for detail.
